Einstein Paradox
Light is combination of
electric and magnetic fields. These electric and magnetic fields travel through
space as waves having speed 3 × 108 meter per second. These waves
are called electromagnetic waves.
Einstein Paradox
The special theory of
relatively was proposed in 1905 which was based on a thought experiment.
Einstein studied the Maxwell theory of electromagnetic waves and thought about
a paradox stated as
“If you were to move at the
speed of light parallel to light beam travelling in empty space, you would
observe static electric and magnetic field patterns”.
Einstein knew that such
static electric and magnetic fields patterns in empty space violate the Maxwell
theory even then he made the above statement. Einstein has two choices to solve
this paradox.
1. Maxwell theory is wrong
2. The classical kinematics
allows an observer to travel along a light beam. This classical kinematics is
wrong.
Correct Choice
Einstein accepted the
Maxwell theory and gave new alternative to the kinematics of Galileo and
Newton. The classical kinematics includes time, mass, length, momentum and
energy etc. Einstein put forward his special theory of relativity in 1905.
